PM10 starts up after conversion

Laakirchen Papier AG has recently put the converted paper machine PM10 back into operation. The 10-week conversion of the machine from SC paper production to light-weight recycled containerboard production was finished on schedule.

Stora Enso invests EUR 94 million

Stora Enso has recently announced that it will be investing EUR 94 million to grow in renewable materials and to increase competitiveness in consumer board and biomaterials. 

EUR 52 million will be invested to increase the dissolving pulp production capacity at Enocell Mill, and EUR 42 million to enhance the availability of the chemi-thermochemical pulp (CTMP) at Imatra Mills.

EdgeExpert will allow the paper manufacturers to save the raw pulp that is worth 100,000 € per year. The system has been technically designed that will allow you to keep more uptime and there will be no pulp projection or fiber deposits.

The threading will become easier with EdgeExpert as it will perfectly seal the wire to keep it clean and minimize the contaminations that cause a downtime. It can be varied from 0 to 120 mm that will enhance the flexibility of the paper production.

Environmental Official welcomes ban on Cardboard at West Coast Landfill

Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District (ACRD) official has welcomed the proposal to impose a ban on disposal of recyclable corrugated commercial cardboard at the Tofino-Ucluelet West Coast Landfill.

The Manager of Environmental Services Andrew McGifford believes that proposal by ACRD will extend the life of the West Coast Landfill, save valuable landfill space for future generations, and secure it from cost that would be incurred from shipping out recyclable material.

AF&PA U.S. paper recovery rate reaches record 67.2% in 2016

The American Forest & Paper Association announced that a record 67.2% of paper consumed in the U.S. was recovered for recycling in 2016.

“The voluntary, market-driven recovery system, the millions of Americans who recycle every day, and industry efforts to inform consumers about the importance of paper recycling continue to enable a high U.S. paper recovery rate,” said AF&PA President and CEO Donna Harman.
