Cascades plant sold for $72M

The Cascades containerboard packaging plant in Maspeth has been sold for $72 million, according to a press release from the Canadian company.

The sale was completed late last month, a little more than six months after the 319,000-square-foot complex at 55-15 Grand Ave. was originally put up for sale.

The buyer was not immediately known, as the sale had not been filed with the Department of Finance as of press time on Wednesday.

Cascades acquires containerboard packaging plants in Ontario and increases its ownership in Greenpac

Cascades has acquired four plants in Ontario to strengthen its position in the containerboard packaging sector, and the purchase of an ownership position in Tencorr Holdings Corporation ("Tencorr"). The company also announces an increase in its equity holding of the Greenpac Mill LLC ("Greenpac").
"We are very pleased to expand our presence in Ontario and increase our stake in Greenpac for the second time this year. These transactions align perfectly with our vision and strategy for our containerboard activities," stated Cascades President and CEO Mario Plourde.

Cascades to close NYC Plant

Cascades Inc. has recently announced that they will be closing their plant in Maspeth, New York as part of the company’s efforts to modernize in the Northeastern United States.
This closure will affect the plants 148 employees, but the company assured that they will be looking into the possibility of relocating them to its other facilities.
The plant will close no later than December 31, 2018, and is put up for sale for US$72 million.

Cascades to stop its operation of packing facility in the US

Cascades is going to stop its operation of the packaging facility to improvise and modernize its operation in the Northeastern US. The president and COO of Cascades Containerboard Packaging, Charles Malo said that - to provide much better service and to give support to our upcoming development, we are going to re-establish Maspeth production Plant in another place.
