Smurfit Kappa Announces Consent Solicitation Relating to the

Smurfit Kappa continues investment in Mexico

Smurfit Kappa is continuing its investment in Mexico with the launch of an advanced paper machine at its Los Reyes Paper Mill site.

The new high performance machine – a PM6, which produces recycled container board - strengthens the company’s offering for the agricultural and electrical appliance sectors.

Operating in Mexico for more than 40 years, Smurfit Kappa has also recently invested in a modernisation project for converting plants which, along with the new PM6, significantly increases customer capabilities.

Smurfit Kappa expands global network of recycling plants

Smurfit Kappa has opened a new recycling plant in Malaga, Spain, which will strengthen its recovered paper service in the region.
The plant, which is expected to process over 30,000 tonnes of recovered paper annually, is perfectly positioned to meet the city’s growing recycling needs.

A fleet of eco-friendly hybrid vehicles collect paper and board from households and businesses. This is then sorted at the plant and sent to the Smurfit Kappa Mengibar Containerboard Mill where it is converted into board that is used to create new packaging.

Voith gets another order from Smurfit Kappa Roermond Papier

Following the successful Voith rebuild of PM 1 in 2016, Smurfit Kappa Roermond Papier, Netherlands has trusted Voith, this time to supply and install a new forming section and headbox for PM 1.
The main objective of the rebuild is to increase production. Speed will be increased, trim width widened to 5,080 millimeters and the efficiency to run lower basis weights of 80 grams per square meter improved. Implementation is planned for January 2019.
